Country Chic 50th Birthday Party in Round Top, Texas
Photography by Keelyn Costello Media
Designing and planning a milestone birthday party is always a fun endeavor, but doing so in the charming town of Round Top, Texas, with an antique-filled country chic theme was truly a delight. I had the pleasure of crafting this unique celebration for a client who wanted to blend rustic charm with elegant vintage touches. From selecting the perfect venue to curating antique decor, every detail was thoughtfully planned to create an unforgettable experience. Read on to see how we set it all up!
Welcome
The first thing we did was set up a large white tent to host the party under. This provided the perfect amount of shade, and when daylight turned to evening, the string lights hung underneath provided the perfect glow.
At the entrance of the tent, we placed vintage-style rugs, a greenery-wrapped arch, and life-sized cutouts of the birthday girl at various ages.
On one side of the entrance, we placed a variety of antiques, including a light-up arrow pointing the way in! On the other, we included a “Howdy Darlin’” welcome sign in a vintage frame with a hand-drawn picture of the guest of honor on it.
Furniture
Inside the tent, we set up several lounge areas for guests to relax, converse, and celebrate in. We used a wide variety of vintage-style rented furniture and rugs to create these outdoor “rooms”.
The furniture included side tables, coffee tables, and sofa tables to make them feel like real rooms, and to provide spaces for placing drinks and food.
Decorations
Then, we added more vintage and rustic décor around the whole celebration area. Round Top is famous for it’s giant antique fairs, and we wanted the space to have that vibe.
Flowers
To balance out all of the old vintage furniture and décor, we placed fresh flowers in beautiful bright colors everywhere! These also added the perfect feminine touch to the festivities.
Music
For entertainment, we set up a stage area on one side of the tent, surrounded by greenery and potted cacti.
We hired live musicians to add some country flair to the party, and a DJ to play more music in between live music sets.
Drinks
Any good party needs a good bar, and this one might be my favorite part of the party! We used a shelving unit as a backdrop and covered it with florals and a variety of vintage glasses. in front of it, we set up a bar where our bar tender served signature party drinks with personlized drink stirrers.
We also set up an antique tub as a cooler, and filled it with more drink options.
Finally, we set up a fun champagne tower on an old wagon. It is a celebration, after all!
Food
A country chic celebration calls for only one kind of food - barbecue of course! We brought in some delicious catered BBQ and sides for guests, and labeled each food item with adorable cowboy hat labels that matched the drink menus.
We wrapped utensils in country-style floral napkins and placed them in a basket at the end of the food table.
Desserts
Desserts included a cake decorated with all of the guest of honor’s favorite things, smaller pie and brownie dessert bites, mini ice cream cones and homemade strawberry cake.
Bringing this vision to life was a rewarding experience, and seeing the joy it brought to my client made it truly special.
