I love living in Austin, it gives me the opportunity to collaborate with so many creative people, and business owners.  So when my friend Jordan of Jordan Flowers and Events told me she was coordinating this styled shoot, of course I was thrilled to participate. The theme of this shoot was Aged to Perfection, a 40th Birthday party any guy would love!

We hosted the event at a local whiskey distillery, STILL Austin. The venue went perfectly with our whisky theme. We set up our table in front of their absolutely gorgeous wall of various whiskies. It made a perfect party backdrop. When I’m planning an event, I like to always keep in mind the architecture and features of each venue, and highlight what makes that location special.

Because we were going for a more masculine aesthetic, I went with darker colored decorations that had a very vintage look. I also included a buffalo check tablecloth from Premiere Events Online to add some texture to the table.

I also went with greenery rather than my usual floral arrangements, giving the party a more manly look. 

Instead of my traditional cake stands and serve ware, I used things like wood slices, planks, and slates. I think these gave the masculine look we were going for.

We filled our table with a variety of small bites like quiche along with empanadas, and a fruit & cheese tray.

We also had some mini cupcakes, chocolate dipped pretzels, and chalkboard sugar cookies.

Dream Bakery Austin created this amazing whiskey barrel shaped cake. Isn’t it beautiful? They did a great job!

I asked my friend Jourdan of Texas Soul Lettering to create the chalkboard signs that I used on the food and dessert tables, along with the whiskey tasting table.

The whiskey bar featured many varieties of STILL Austin’s whiskies along with shot glasses and whisky accessories.

It was a great opportunity to collaborate with some of Austin’s best party industry vendors. I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to join them!
