Not Every Witch Lives In Salem

With fall in full swing, it’s the perfect time to start planning your Halloween parties!  Halloween is such a fun time each year, it’s the perfect excuse to have some friends over and celebrate!  Last year I threw this Halloween party for my daughter and her friends. With an unexpected color-scheme, of black, white, and teal this party really stands out from the pack!

When I am planning any party, I like to start by getting inspiration from one item, and this Spooky Soiree was no exception.  I ran across this adorable chalkboard sign that says “Not every witch lives in Salem” at Jo-ann’s last year, and once I had found it I knew that’s the what I was going to build this party around.  I just thought it was so fun! I added the sign to a stand and made it the focal point of my table.

Once I decided I was going with a “Witches” theme for this party, that meant including details like cauldrons, witch’s hats, and black cats!  And you can’t have Halloween without pumpkins!

But, I wanted to give this party a more sophisticated and girly look, so I used pops of teal throughout the party.  I also included the black and white striped ribbon to add some texture and a fun detail.

I always like to use stands of different heights and sizes, which gives any party a more interesting look versus everything being flat on the table.  I added things like apothecary jars, and skeleton cameos to the mason jars to help make this party more elegant, and the “Boo” sign for whimsy.

I went simple with the snacks on this party, and served chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting.  I like to present the desserts in different ways throughout the space, so this time I used some of the cauldrons and also in some scalloped boxes with our stripped ribbon.  The mini cupcakes in the cauldrons have little candy eyeballs too, just to up the spooky factor. Love adding fun little details like this! Along with the cupcakes I also served some Halloween snack mix in paper cones, with these funny tags that say things like “Witches Be Crazy” and “Creep It Real”, a huge hit with the teens!  Also offered little snacks like gumballs, and jelly beans.

Instead of using a typical backdrop, this time I used witch shaped silhouettes and another cauldron with black and teal bubbles coming out like the witches were making some brew!

To fill in the space, I used a party stylist’s secret-- Fake Cakes!  We didn’t need any more sweets, but I wanted to make the table look more full, and add balance so I used fake cakes from Confection Deception. To add a Halloween touch, I used some card stock cut outs shaped like a witch’s hat, and a witch with her cauldron and black cat! Spooky!

Our favor table had another silhouette behind it, this time a creepy tree.  I used my party inspiration sign again, and used a teal pumpkin with the striped ribbon to add some color to the space.  Our favors were bags of caramel corn mix. One of the items I just love in this party are these witch shoe candlesticks! I love including things like this, to my parties, because it just adds a little whimsy.
