Mickey and Minnie Mouse Dessert Ideas

Photography by Laura Aguirre Photography

Who doesn’t love Mickey Mouse?  For over 90 years he’s been bringing fun and joy to the world.  And who is Mickey without his other half, Minnie Mouse? This classic birthday party theme is perfect for any Disney lover!

My daughter is a lover of all things Disney, especially Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and her very favorite place in the world to visit is the Walt Disney World park in Florida.  A few years ago I created a Mickey and Minnie Mouse themed dessert station for my daughter Carolina’s 15th Birthday.

The night started at her favorite italian restaurant, where her friends surprised her!  After that, they had a fun scavenger hunt at the mall, and of course it was Disney themed too.  Then all the girls headed to our house for a sleepover, and of course her surprise dessert table!

Well I say surprise, but she had actually seen it before we went to dinner.  She had just assumed it was for a client, that’s the life of a party stylist’s kid haha!  So when she found out it was actually for her, she was really excited!

When you’re planning a Mickey and Minnie themed bash, you can’t go wrong with a color scheme of black, white, red, and yellow.  They are the classic Mickey and Minnie colors after all. I started my table with a black table cloth and red dots bunting. I paired them with black and white serveware along with glass cake stands and apothecary jars.

I created a no-sew backdrop by using pom-poms and red and white polka dotted fabric for Minnie’s bow,  with just my hot glue gun! I mounted the Minnie on black and white striped fabric, creating a perfect backdrop for my table!

The girls were going to watch a movie together (a Disney movie, of course!) so I mixed popcorn and sweets into this dessert table.

I used an assortment of candies, including Mickey Mouse lollipops, red and yellow citrus candies, rock candies, and red gumballs. I also served some golden chocolate coins, with a special Disney Parks Mickey shaped coin.

And because girls can’t live on candy alone, I also provided some strawberries and blueberries in the polka dotted cupcake holders.

Our baked goods came from Michelle’s Patisserie.  This time we served Minnie shaped cookies, complete with adorable bows!

As well as chocolate and and vanilla mini-cupcakes, with cupcake toppers that featured Mickey and Minnie’s signature white gloves!

For her birthday cake, I served a cake with ruffled frosting, that gives the look of Minnie Mouse’s dress.  I topped the cake with a “Happy Birthday” topper that I created on my Cricut.

In fact, all the cut outs for this celebration were made by me on my Cricut. The cupcake & cake toppers and the signs on the popcorn bowls. I also created the straws flags, cup wrappers and signs for my lemonade beverage table.

For the beverage table, I created the backdrop using paper fans in my party colors of red, black and white. And I provided the girls with Mason Jars, with Mickey Mouse decorations, along with fresh lemonade!
