Hello and Happy Holidays to all of you! It’s been quite a while- after taking a much needed break to tend to my health, I’m back at it and feeling better than new, so thank you for sticking around and for all your kind words on social media!

Today I want to share with you a lovely little girl’s first birthday party that I styled last December.  The birthday girl’s name was Clara, and her mom decided on a Nutcracker theme for her party, how perfect is that?  I just love it!

All the Details

We went with a wintry mix of icy blue and pale pink for our color scheme, then we added in pops of gold to compliment the elegant theme.  We added blue fabric to the windows and a cut out of our birthday girl’s name.

The focal point of any party is usually the dessert table and we made this party’s dessert table extra special with loads of tulle to create a winter wonderland. 

The centerpiece was an amazing cake from the talented people at Dream Bakery Austin.   We used an ornament version of Clara from the Nutcracker Ballet as the cake topper, which is an easy and inexpensive cake topper idea that can be used for all kinds of themes.  

  To fill in the space I added Christmas trees, gift boxes, snowflakes, and of course Nutcrackers.

We also had some amazing Nutcracker themed sugar cookies, (seriously, how cute are they?) in addition to chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with icy blue frosting topped with golden crowns, and vanilla cupcakes topped with printable cupcake toppers.  

What first birthday is complete without a beautiful smash cake?  Our Birthday girl’s had a layered ribbon look and gold accents in our party colors.  

To make her high-chair look a little fancier, I used a tulle baby skirt that I found a Hobby Lobby.  I used two and hot glued them to create the look I was after. It couldn’t have been easier, and you could definitely recreate it for your celebrations.  You just have to take a second and think about using things in unexpected ways.  To complete the chair, I added a banner.

Another area I styled for this celebration was a photo station, complete with backdrop and Nutcracker themed props!  

We served Hot Chocolate in an electric kettle, which kept it warm the whole party, for the kiddos, and wine for the adults. We also had cold beverages as well.   

We didn’t get a chance to take photos of the main food served, you know how parties just go-go-go, but we did get a photo of all the lovely printable labels.  

The guests left with favor bags with our printable labels, and a Nutcracker themed party cracker.
