Halloween Wedding Ideas for 'Til Death Gothic Weddings

Photography by Candi Noble

It’s finally fall and time to get spooky.  Each year I love to decorate for Halloween, whether it’s a Halloween Bar Cart or a Spooky Soiree Halloween Party, making things a little scary and a lot of fun is always a good time!  Today I want to share with you a Halloween display I recently styled in partnership with Oriental Trading Company.

The inspiration for this holiday display idea came when I saw this creepy Mermaid Skeleton prop.  The mermaid skeleton was so unique, and unlike typical Halloween skeletons. As soon as I saw it, the ideas just started coming to me, and I knew I wanted to build a Spooky Sweethearts Table, in a gothic wedding style.

And if you’re going to use a Mermaid skeleton as your gothic bride, you’ve gotta give give her a Pirate bones groom.  We gave the groom a top hat with a red rose. And our bride carries a bouquet of red and blue flowers, and dressed in black tulle. And the couple is placed on black velvet chairs.

I came up with the theme of ‘Til Death for this display.  With cute hand-lettered signs with sayings like “Til Death” and “I Put a Spell On You”.

Of course, our sweethearts needed a wedding cake, I chose a white cake adorned with black, blue, and white flowers.  We then added a topper that says “Always”, and a golden knife through the top, to give it an extra creepy touch.

The table was draped with a gauzy black cloth with attached bats, topped with gothic style wine goblets. And right in front, I placed a candelabra with black candles.

The backdrop was created by using copper pipes adorned with spider webs, a giant spider, and a gauzy curtain.

To fill in the space I added more details.  The grooms side got a trunk with a pirate flag, fishing net, a glass jug, coffin shaped candle holders, and a Mr. cut out.

The bride’s display included an oversized shell, more of her flowers, and a Mrs. cut out down near her mermaid’s tail.

There is so much you could do with this gothic wedding display.  It would be great as a photo station at a party, front porch decor, or as a focal point at a Halloween themed wedding.
