PS: Don’t forget to check out my daughter’s Summer Vibes grad party or the One Smart Cookie graduation party for even more party theme inspiration.
Party Colors
This Baseball themed graduation party was mainly yellow and black in color as the graduate was headed to Southwestern University in the fall. It’s always fun to use the graduate’s future college colors as your color scheme.
Virtual Graduation Party Tip: Even though the party might be virtual, decorations in the school colors can still be used to make the party extra fun for the graduate and those logging in to the join the fun. Even the digital invitation can include the colors of the future college.
High School Memorabilia
You don’t want to forget about their high school, so you can incorporate memorabilia on your welcome table. Consider their letter jacket being on display, along with their graduation cap and framed diploma.
Photo Memories
Of course graduation parties are a time to get a little sentimental too. At this party, we included pictures of the graduate throughout his life placed on a chicken wire grid, and his Senior picture were on the welcome table as well.
*** Virtual Graduation Party Tip: Create a wall of photos to be the backdrop behind the hosts and graduate of the online party for all to see.
Advice and Well Wishes
The welcome table is a great place for adding some blank cards for the party guests to give the graduate some advice and well wishes. A clear glass canister was used to collect them during the party. We added a graduation cap shaped box for the cards, then filled in the space with a couple of baseball gloves, a custom engraved baseball bat, baseballs, and some florals.
*** Virtual Graduation Party Tip: Pre-mail advice cards to guests and when they are mailed back, a keepsake album can be created for the graduate. Or, simply have your guests email/text their advice and well wishes. These can either be printed or even added to a print and framed. And, don’t forget to read them to the guests during the virtual graduation.
Since baseball was a major part of this graduate’s life, it was very important for us to incorporate the baseball theme throughout the party. Being given a theme by a client and then letting us run with it, is so much fun. Theme makes the party so much more special and personal for the guest of honor.
Incorporating the Party Theme
While this party had baseball items, you can do this with anything that is special to your grad. It’s not about hitting your guests over the head with themed items non-stop, but more about sprinkling your theme elements sporadically throughout your event.
Since we wanted to use the college colors and logos as our scheme along with a more rustic aesthetic, I used black and yellow party flags throughout that I got at a party store. But, it was really hard to find party supplies with his college logo on them. To solve the problem, I whipped out my Cricut and created some This is a perfect way to create your own custom party supplies on a budget. And again, you could do this for any party theme you’re focusing on.
Decor Elements
Since, the graduates family loved rustic decor, I wanted to give a really rustic and industrial feel to this celebration. We added things like wooden elements to elevate the food table, and wood slats behind our “Congrats” Banner. To fill in the space, we also used industrial style metal stands for a rustic farmhouse vibe.
Sunflowers were the flowers of choice for this party as they fit our color scheme and were a perfect match to the rustic theme.
Let’s Talk Food
Since Texans love their barbecue . . . we served brisket, sausage, turkey breast, and sides.
*** Virtual Graduation Party Tip: Have party guests share their favorite recipes for the graduate to have a fun collection of recipes to take with them. Or, have guests cook up a dish from the party menu so you can all party and eat virtually together.
For beverages, we served tea and lemonade, with yellow and black straws of course.
So that’s it for this graduation party, I hope it inspired you to give your next celebration that special touch that will put it over the top. And, if you’re in the Austin Texas area and you’re looking for help to create an amazing celebration, we’re here for you.
