Red and Blue Ideas to Plan a “Cherry On Top” Party for Girls
Photography by Laura Aguirre
Today I’m thrilled to be sharing this fabulous “A Cherry on Top” party I styled last summer, I’m extra excited to share it because it’s being featured in Mingle Magazine’s spring issue!
Last summer I had the chance to plan the end-of-the-year party for a lovely group of girls, who had just finished three weeks of summer camp. I settled on the theme “A Cherry on Top”, I thought it would be a fitting theme for this end of summer celebration.
I started planning this red and blue bash about four months beforehand. This gave me plenty of time to shop and gather everything I would need to create the vision I had in my head.
My inspiration for this party was the adorable cherry themed party ware collection. Cute sets of coordinating plates and cups with an adorable red gingham print along with a delightful pair of cherries. I dressed the table in white tablecloths, then added my table ware. Each table setting had an individual mini cupcake stand and bright red cutlery.

I love incorporating vintage items in the parties I style. From the retro blue fan to the tea pot and the old-fashioned bicycle, I really think it’s unexpected details that make a party special.
I set the desserts up on a antique display cabinet lined with more red gingham. I used a variety of reds, blues, and whites all through my display.
Another idea I like to use in my parties is including things like the cozy pillows, baking utensils, and more. They always add a nice pop of color.
The campers knew they were in for a celebration, but we kept theme of the party a secret. While the girl’s were eating dinner one evening, boxes filled with charming red aprons by Belle Threads along with cherry themed invitations created by Crowning Details were delivered and placed on each girls bed. The surprise gift was a welcome treat for the girls, and each camper was thrilled for party day to arrive!
When the party finally started the girls had a blast desserts from Sweet Carousel Cakes. They snacked on candies, cookies, cupcakes, and a beautiful cake along with sodas, cherry of course!
