Glamorous Gold, Pink, and Black Teen Birthday Party Ideas
Turning thirteen is kind of a big deal. It’s the first year you are no longer a child, no longer a “tween”, but an actual teenager! If you ask me, that deserves a real celebration. So when one of my wonderful clients asked me to help her set up a surprise 13th birthday party for her daughter Lexi, I was excited to make it special for her. Read on to see how I styled this Glamorous Gold, Pink, and Black Teen Birthday Party, and make sure to stick around to the end of the post, where you can see the birthday cake Lexi made herself - it’s truly incredible! Girl’s got real talent!

Balloon Decor
For this teen party, balloons were key. They are such a versatile decoration! I tied bunches of pretty pink helium-filled balloons together, and attached them to the door handles. I brought a bit more glam to the balloon bouquets by adding metallic gold fringe to the strings. This served as a gorgeous backdrop for the party area.
I also set up a giant number “13” filled with gold, pink, and black balloons. I varied the sizes of the balloons in the number bases to give it a more organic, fun look.

Photo Booth Backdrop
Teens are all about taking photos for social media, so I definitely wanted to provide a glamorous backdrop for them in the party color scheme. I used a metal backdrop base, and hung white, black, and pink fabric on it. I varied the lengths of the draped fabric to give it all a bit more dimension and keep it interesting! Then, to bring in the gold, I hung a glittery gold garland in front of the fabric saying, “Happy 13th Birthday!”. This area also served as the gift drop-off area, and Lexi’s friends and family did a great job keeping their gift wrapping in the correct color scheme. Amazing!
Table Setting
For the main table, I used the client’s existing back patio table, but covered it with a crisp white linen table cloth. For the centerpiece, I used - you guessed it - more balloons! I created a base out of white wood to match the table and keep the balloons in place, and covered it with a small gold, pink, and black balloon garland. Then, I tied a row of helium-filled pink “Happy 13th birthday” balloons to the base. Similarly to the backdrop cloths, I varied the height of the centerpiece balloons for dimension.
EVENT DESIGN TIP: Make sure your centerpiece balloons are high enough to not block guests from seeing each other across the table!
Pretty Place Settings
I used glamorous gold paper dinner plates for my place settings, topped with smaller white and gold patterned dessert plates. In the center of my place settings, I added a matching gold and white paper drink cup, each with a pink patterned straw embellished with glittery gold “13” cutout. To the side, I set out a white disposable napkin with metallic gold “Happy 13th Birthday” printed on it, and a classy gold plastic spoon. Each place setting also received a water bottle with personalized 13th birthday label, and a pink and black “thirteen and fabulous” treat tote favor.
Fabulous Cake
Remember that fabulous cake I talked about? I was blown away by Lexi’s amazing talent when this gorgeous pink and white striped confetti cake came out. It was almost too pretty to eat….but her cakes are delicious too! The glittery gold topper completed it perfectly. You can see more of Lexi’s creative cakes on her Instagram, @cakesbylexi.atx.
