Little Llama Birthday Picnic Party
Photography by: Laura Alexandra Photo
Spring will be here before we know it, and with the pandemic still in play, we are all still finding ways to celebrate safely. Outdoor micro-parties are one of the best ways to do that! That’s why I’m sharing this pretty Llama-Themed Picnic Party I styled for one of my clients. Her sweet daughter Alice Sophia was turning one, and my client wanted to get a small group of friends together to celebrate this milestone with an adorable little llama theme. The rest of the guests participated via Zoom, so I wanted to make sure to create a gorgeous party environment worthy of being their video call background.

Invitations
I really enjoyed designing the printables for this party. With lounging llamas, cute cacti, fun fringe and much more, they are perfect for really setting the scene in every area! The first thing I created with these designs were the custom invitations.
Welcome Area
On the day of the party, I set up a welcome area to greet guests and provide them with an area to drop off gifts. I used an easel to display a printed llama poster welcoming guests to the party. Next to it, I set up a bar cart with a printed “Gifts” banner with added tassels. On the top level of the cart, a printed sign directed guests to take a hand sanitizer from a bowl of mini bottles labeled with cute llama labels.
Food and Drink Area
Next, I set up the food and drink area. Individual pre-packed picnic lunches were provided in cute cardboard boxes tied with ribbon and garnished with a bit of greenery. I displayed them on a natural rattan stand, and added a pretty flower arrangement that I created myself. I used bright blooms in the colors of the party, and set them in a natural vase. On the other side of the table, I laid out some bright pink fabric, on which I set drink dispensers with wooden bases. In the center, I placed a gold tub of ice on a wooden stand, and some gold-rimmed plastic cups.
Guest’'s Table
Since the main guests at this party were littles, a low natural wood table worked best. But low tables can work for guests of any age and play into the picnic vibe. Just set up a rug underneath, and provide plenty of comfy pillows for seating, like I did here! I also used a couple of natural rattan ottomans on each end for those littles who needed a bit of a boost.
In the center of the table, I draped some flowy blush pink fabric and set out several more floral arrangements. I also created wood cutouts of each guest’s name, added tassels to them, and used them as place cards.
The final touch to the table was a printed llama menu card at each end.
Dessert Bar
Once guests are done eating, it’s time for dessert! Rather than use one table for this, I set up a variety of stools, stands, and baskets with different heights to create dimension. I covered them with all sorts of delicious desserts, labeled with llama food labels. And don’t forget, llama cupcake toppers are FREE for my subscribers! You can find them in the Subscriber’s Lounge. If you’re not already a subscriber you can sign up here.
Then, I surrounded the dessert displays with cacti, succulents, a letter board with a flower crown for the guest of honor, and more colorful tassels.
I also provided paper bags with llama labels for guests to take desserts home with them.
Next to the dessert bar, I set up another rug with a cozy play tent as an extra seating space for the kids. I filled it with soft pillows and fuzzy llama stuffed animals, and draped it with tassel garlands and a large balloon garland that extended to serve as a backdrop for the desserts.
Cake Chair
The final piece of the set up was where the birthday girl would get to eat her cake! We used a separate rug with a white high chair on it, and tied a large white balloon to the back of the chair. Then I draped a printed llama “ONE” banner across the front.
P.S. The printable pack in my shop includes chair banners for ages 1-4, so you can use it for any young child’s party!
I just love how this Llama Picnic Party turned out, and I’m so pleased that my client, sweet little Alice Sophia, and their guests loved it too.
