How to Plan an LOL Surprise Inspired Birthday Party

Over the years as a party stylist I’ve styled dozens of events, and I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some truly amazing clients. Many of those clients pay me the lovely compliment of booking Mint Event Design over and over to celebrate all their major life events. Of course I have a lot of fun styling parties for all my clients, but it’s really special if they are returning clients! So today I’m sharing with the fourth birthday party I’ve styled for sweet Miss Audrey.
Audrey is such a beautiful and energetic girl, with lots of friends who love to celebrate her birthday. Each year she chooses to celebrate her birthday and the end of the school year with a pool party- how fun is that!?
This year she went with an LOL Surprise Theme!
We only had 20 minutes to set up this party before our little guests arrived, that’s the venue’s policy, so it was all hands on deck during set up. Because I knew this ahead of time, I had planned out everything that needed to be done in advance, and picked simple decorations that could be put up quickly. It was very warm and windy the day of the party, but I was busy getting this party set up in a hurry! When you book with Mint Event Design, we do all the hard work for you!
Audrey’s mom wanted me to style the food table and the dessert table. We served different varieties breakfast tacos (a Texas favorite), along with fruit cups, chips, salsa, and guac. We added some cute stickers and food labels that fit our theme.
We wanted the dessert table to be our focal point. And the star of our dessert table was the fabulous birthday cake from Sweet Carousel Cakes. She knocked it out of the park on this cake. The dolls add a real sweet touch.
We also added some on theme cookies, created by Westlake Bakes. She did a fabulous job, if I do say so myself!
The table is draped in a blue tablecloth, and we added a sign with Audrey’s name in the ‘LOL’ style. Then we added various desserts like cake pops, cupcakes, candy and more in our party colors.
Even though you can find party decor with the "LOL" theme at most party stores, I rarely like to use them. I like to be challenged and make it more unique and personalized for my clients. It’s always a pleasure to work with different vendors that can make my vision come true.
One of the vendors I worked with for this party is Elimelin, who created these fabulous paper party boxes.
I love sharing real life birthday parties with you, because it goes to show you that no party is too small to be made special. You don’t have to overthink everything, a few special touches will send your party over the top!
Huge thank you to Audrey’s Mom for always thinking of Mint Event Design when it comes to planning her family’s celebrations!
